Re: Check in: Week of June 1, 2009
Thu, June 4, 2009 - 2:20 PMHoly cow! I am really saddened by David Carradine's death. I was an old horror film junkie and knew his father's work well. And, of course, what self-respecting 70s kid wouldn't know Kung Fu?
Mostly, I am saddened to understand all the pain that went before his decision, if, indeed, it was a true suicide (and not auto-erotic asphyxiation - they found him naked...). Either way, though, it didn't sound like his life was a slice of fried gold.
Bummer. Blessings on you, Mr. Carradine, wherever you may be! -

Sat, June 6, 2009 - 2:03 AMStill here. That's about it. I'm just trying to hang in there for now. There's a whole lot going wrong & I'm just trying to see a light at the end that isn't an oncoming train! -

Re: Check in: Week of June 1, 2009
Sat, June 6, 2009 - 6:06 PMi don't think david carradine hung himself, it's looking more like it was accidental asphyxiation during an auto-erotic bondage thing.
i'm doing as well as can be expected, which is good, i suppose, but i'm very, very scared about the prospect of ect looming next in my life. i talked to the shrink about it this week and it seems like it's the only thing left for me to try. -

Re: Check in: Week of June 1, 2009
Sat, June 6, 2009 - 6:47 PMHey B,
My shrink talked to me about ECT back in the bad old days...she recommended a pretty good book called Shock by Kitty Dukakis (Michael Dukakis' wife). It was pretty good. Here's a like to an article about it: abcnews.go.com/GMA/story
So check it out. The biggest side effect seems to be some short-term memory loss. As hard as it's been for you, it might be worth a try. You know we'll all be here for you...

Re: Check in: Week of June 1, 2009
Sat, June 6, 2009 - 10:07 PMWeek's been a little rough. My dad is still in a skilled rehab facility. His strength is getting better but body systems are failing. It's hard for me to watch this happening. My hubby has been home sick too for a couple of days. He's doing better but still "off". And our precious dog is seriously sick with tracheal collapse due to what they think is a swollen throat and larynx. Dog's on antibiotics and we're waiting for bloodwork to see if he's got Valley Fever on top of the throat infection. I seem to be taking things 15 minutes at a time.
On the "up" side, our son and his family arrived today from OH and are staying with us for this week. We get to spend time with our other two grandchildren who are cute as can be!

Working hard not to feel real stuopid, but I did stay in bed for 2 days. Better now. Tomorrow I'll go to the DMV (shudder). -

Re: Check in: Week of June 1, 2009
Fri, June 12, 2009 - 7:40 PMHello...I haven't been around much, but thought I'd pop by.
I'm surviving school, and only have about a month and a half left. I'll be glad when it's done, and I can relax and deal with my life again. There's a lot going on. Everyone's competing for jobs (and it seems there aren't many jobs out there, due to budget cuts). Got engaged a few months ago, so kinda starting to plan the wedding. Also, moving during the summer but need to do some work on the place before we move in. Basically....just a lot going on. I feel like I really need some time off, with nothing to do but take care of myself....but that's not going to happen for a while.
Been a bit depressed lately. Not really bad...just a general low feeling. I'm trying to keep myself afloat though!
